Why text-only beats video chat for privacy
Most "anonymous chat" sites that came after Omegle shut down went heavy on video. Video reveals your face, your voice, your room, the time of day where you live, and often what city you're in (window views, accents, light). Text reveals none of that. You stay genuinely anonymous, you can think before you reply, and you can quietly leave without performing an exit on camera.
ChatWii is text-only on purpose. No camera permission requests, no microphone access, no surprise video calls. Just a clean text interface that works the same whether you're on a 10-year-old laptop or a phone.
What "anonymous" actually means here
ChatWii doesn't ask for an email address, phone number, real name, or social media login. The only things visible to other users are the nickname you choose, the age and gender you select, and the country you connect from (detected automatically so you can find people near you, though you can chat with anyone worldwide).
On the server side, your session is an anonymous Supabase auth token — there's no user record tied to a real identity to leak. Anonymous accounts are deleted within minutes of you leaving. Messages are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and auto-delete after 8 hours.
For full transparency: we use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic stats (no per-message tracking), and we log IP and browser info when you submit a feedback form or report another user — that's used for abuse prevention. Everything else is detailed on our privacy policy.

Send messages, share images if you want. When you're done, just close the tab. Your messages are deleted after 8 hours, your account within minutes.
Built-in safety tools
- Block: One click and that user can't message you again.
- Report: Sends the conversation to our moderators with a reason. We review reports as fast as we can — usually within hours.
- Rate limits: Built-in limits on messages per minute and images per day prevent spam.
- 18+ only: Minors aren't allowed. If you encounter someone who appears to be a minor, please report them.
- Link sanitization: Optional admin-controlled feature that auto-replaces external links to prevent phishing scams.
