1. What Information We Collect
Minimal Data Only: We collect only the absolute minimum information needed to provide our service:
- Chosen nickname (not linked to your identity)
- Selected gender and age (for matching preferences)
- Country (detected automatically via Cloudflare for regional matching)
- Chat messages (automatically deleted after 8 hours)
- An anonymous session ID (deleted ~5 minutes after you leave)
- Your IP address and browser user-agent — only when you submit feedback or a report (used for abuse prevention)
- Aggregate analytics data via Google Analytics (page views, country, device type — never tied to your messages)
✓ We Never Collect: Email addresses, phone numbers, real names, contact lists, location data beyond country, or any other personally identifiable information.
2. How We Use Your Information

Important: We never use your data for advertising, marketing, or commercial purposes. We don't sell, rent, or share your information with third parties.
3. Message Privacy & Deletion
- Automatic Deletion: All messages are permanently deleted after 8 hours
- No Permanent Storage: We don't create backups or archives of your conversations
- Encrypted in Transit: All messages are encrypted between your device and our servers using HTTPS/TLS
- No Commercial Analysis: We don't read, analyze, or sell your messages
Note on encryption: Messages are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), but they are not end-to-end encrypted. Our infrastructure providers (Supabase for the database, Cloudflare for hosting) can technically access stored messages, and our moderators may review messages reported for safety violations.
4. Cookies & Tracking
- Essential Cookies: Used to keep your session active while chatting and remember your preferences
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic — what countries visit, how many sessions per day, which pages are popular. This is anonymous traffic data, not tied to your chat content. You can opt out via browser tracking protection or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- No Advertising Trackers: No Facebook Pixel, no ad-network trackers, no data brokers. We don't run ads.
- Local Storage: Your nickname, theme preference, and session info are stored locally in your browser. Cleared when you sign out.
5. Data Security
- Encrypted in Transit: All connections use HTTPS/TLS — the same encryption banks use
- Encrypted at Rest: Our database (Supabase) encrypts stored data on disk
- Reputable Infrastructure: Hosted on Cloudflare (CDN, DDoS protection) and Supabase (database, real-time messaging). Images uploaded via ImageKit.
- Access Controls: Only the ChatWii team has access to operational systems, and only when needed for moderation or maintenance
6. Your Rights
- Complete Anonymity: You can use our service completely anonymously
- No Account Required: No registration, verification, or account creation needed
- Leave Anytime: Simply close your browser - no data persists
- Report Issues: Use our feedback system to report privacy concerns
Note: Since we don't store personal data, traditional "data deletion" requests aren't applicable - your data is already automatically deleted.
7. Children's Privacy
Our service is intended for users 18 years and older. We require age selection during registration and don't knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has used our service, please contact us through our feedback system.
8. International Users
ChatWii is available globally. We comply with international privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable regulations. Our minimal data collection approach means we exceed most privacy requirements by default.

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of ChatWii after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
